What does it Taste Like?
Different people have different accounts of what this herb tastes like. Overall, chanca piedra has an earthy, herbal taste. However, this earthly taste is bitter and similar to the taste of celery. To improve the taste, many people take it with tea or water. Chanca piedra can also be taken with honey, lemon, cinnamon, molasses or stevia. All these ingredients can enhance the natural taste of the herb.
Several people have tried different ingredients to make the taste of chance piedra less bitter:
Chanca Piedra with Tea
To have chanca piedra with tea, you should warm 16 ounces of distilled water. The water temperature shouldn’t be too hot (between 120-135 Fahrenheit).
Next, you add ¾ cup of tea leaves in your cup of tea and then blend chanca piedra in it. This will remove the bitter taste and make it bland. The tea leaves might also give a green leafy taste but it won’t overwhelm your taste buds.
To add more flavor, you can add the juice of half an organic lemon in your tea. Or if you want to sweeten your tea then you can add stevia or monk fruit extracts. You may also add goji berries and vanilla powder to your herbal tea blend to enjoy a rich flavor.
Chanca Piedra with Water
Many people also use chanca piedra in a diluted form. When it is diluted, it has a mild yet unique taste. Usually people add the herb in warm water as that enhances the taste.
Chanca Piedra with Cleansing Drinks
It is always recommended to take chanca piedra with other liver cleansing herbs as it increases the effectiveness and safety of the whole cleansing process. Thus, many people use cleansing drinks alongside chanca piedra supplements. This can include ½ of organic lemon juice or 1 teaspoon of organic and raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. This is mixed with water and chanca piedra to give a wholesome taste. You can take this drink 2-3 times a day but it should always be taken on an empty stomach.
The overall taste of chanca piedra, especially when it is taken in isolation isn’t liked; however people have devised different ways to make the whole experience flavorsome (for example, adding dried mango slices in brewing). Moreover, getting rid of kidney stones and gallstones is given a priority over the bitter taste, which is why consuming medicine with a bitter taste is worth it in the long run. With time, the herb even starts to seem refreshing.
